The Ty Cobb Scholarship is awarded only to:

  1.  Full-time undergraduate students, generally defined by someone taking 12 or more credit hours per semester or as otherwise defined by the academic institution and so noted in the application.
  2. To full-time professional students pursuing a MD/DO or DMD/DDS degree. 

All applicants must demonstrate financial need (FAFSA) and be U.S. Citizens and Georgia Residents.

Welcome to the Ty Cobb Scholarship Application. This application is open from January 6, 2026 to March 6, 2026.

You are eligible to apply if you are a U.S. Citizen AND a Georgia resident, you demonstrate financial need, and fall under one of the following categories:

  1. Renewal Applicant: you were awarded a Ty Cobb scholarship in the previous cycle and A) you are a full time undergraduate student (generally defined by someone taking 12 or more credit hours per semester or as otherwise defined by the academic institution and so noted in the application, excluding credits in P.E., ROTC, Band, Chorus and Others of an activity or related area with an academic average of “B” or higher) or B) you are a full-time professional degree student (MD/DO or DMD/DDS). 
  2. New Undergraduate Student: who completed or will complete by the end of their current Spring semester at least 30 semester or 45 quarter hours of academic credits with an average of “B” or higher and you are a high school graduate. The college or university must be accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education.
  3. New Professional Student: pursuing their MD/DO or DMD/DDS degrees. The college or university must be accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education.

Before you start this application, note that you will be asked to upload the following items:

  • Your most recent tax return, or the tax return of whoever claims you on their taxes
  • Financial aid award letter
  • Letter of recommendation
  • College transcript
  • Copy of your FAFSA
